Enclosure Installation Over Existing Pool Stone Ridge School, Bethesda MD
A pool which can be used year-round is a concept which is very important to the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. The existing 25-yard pool was proving to be a great asset for the summer months, and a plan was put in place to cover the pool to create a facility which would enable the aquatics program to evolve and to create an activity center for the summer camp day school.
Smolen-Emr, Architects designed a Structures Unlimited, Inc. pool enclosure and integrated the existing bath house and pool. Architectural accents were added to allow the natatorium to blend in with the surrounding areas.
- Corrosion-Resistant Aluminum Structure
- Translucent Insulated Kalwall® Roof System
- Operable Roof Components
- Dormers
- Existing Bath House integrated into system
- 3-Tiered Roof System

Facility users can now enjoy an outdoor experience in the summer months by opening the operable roof and sliding glass doors. Insulated light transmitting Kalwall Panels allow a greater control of glare and solar heat gain to provide for a more pleasant experience. The thermally broken, insulated, light-transmitting roof and STRUCTURAL ALUMINUM system allow for all-season use while providing ample daylight, energy efficiency and corosion resistance.
