Single-Source Efficiency – A Case Study on the Mattabassett District Water Pollution Control Facility.
When it comes to public works buildings, efficiency in both form and function is critical. Structures Unlimited, Inc. provides a single-source solution that meets efficiency goals while providing durability and many customizable options.

Every Structures Unlimited enclosure is a custom-tailored wet-weather building built from standard components designed to meet the individual needs of a specific project. Solutions range from circular covers to entire buildings. Options include roll-up doors, man doors and garage doors; motorized-opening roof systems; removable skylights; and more.
A case in point is the Mattabassett District Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) in Connecticut. The property required extensive upgrades to meet new state and federal standards. Structures Unlimited provided a new main building that is an approximately 96’ (29 m) wide x 48’ (15 m) long clearspan™ center ridge building with open-air center passage.

This building was engineered, fabricated and pre-finished so it could be erected quickly and in any kind of weather. Construction of a metal building structure is at least 30% faster than conventional construction, according to the Metal Building Manufacturers Association. Structures Unlimited incorporates Kalwall® translucent daylighting panels, allowing workspaces to be flooded with natural light for optimal safety and productivity. The panels are also highly insulated to prevent potential freeze-ups and are energy efficient, taking advantage of solar gain during daylight hours.

“Wastewater facilities can be complex because of their environmental consideration and the important equipment contained within. The aluminum framing in all of our structures is corrosion resistant and built to last in wet environments,” says Mark McNichol, Director of Sales for Structures Unlimited.
